Battle Mountain High School seniors Brice Domagala and Anthony Del Rio are headed to the next level to being their college careers in football and baseball.
Domagala, who was named the Northern 2A Most Valuable Player during the football season this past fall is headed to Dickinson State University in in Dickinson, N.D.
The Blue Hawks football team won its seventh consecutive conference championship in the North Star Athletic Conference in 2021. They finished 8-2 record, 8-0 in conference and ended the season ranked No. 14 the NAIA football playoff rankings. Domagala was the only signing class recruit from Nevada.
“Brice is a very well-rounded athlete from Battle Mountain. He is versatile that he has played many positions for his team on both sides of the ball. He is another two-sport athlete that has been an all-state wrestler as well. We are looking forward to seeing Brice develop in our program,” said Dickinson coach Pete Stanton.
York College is a member of the NAIA and plays in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers were 14-34 last season and just getting the 2022 season underway.
Currently there are no Nevada players on the York roster and Del Rio would be the only Nevada player on the roster next season.
In 42.2 innings pitched last year, Del Rio had a 2.46 ERA for the Longhorns. Del Rio struck out 82 batters and walked just 10 during the shortened season. Of the 36 runs he allowed, just 15 were earned.
The Longhorn baseball team started their season this past weekend in Lovelock.
