Battle Mountain to host 8-10-year-old all-star baseball tournament

The District 3 Little League All-Star baseball tournament for the 8-10-year-old group gets under way this Friday in Battle Mountain at the fields next to the junior high.

Nine teams from northern Nevada will be in Battle Mountain for five days of competition. 

On Friday, Battle Mountain takes on White Pine at 6 p.m., with the winner to play Silverada (Dayton) on Saturday at 8 a.m. The loser of that opening game drops to the loser’s bracket for a 10 a.m. game on Saturday.

In other games on Friday, Elko and Ruby Mountain (Spring Creek) play at 6 p.m. and Walker River (Yerington) faces Hawthorne at 8 p.m. The winners of those two games play at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Elko/Ruby Mountain loser plays at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the Hawthorne/ Walker River loser plays at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

In the bottom portion of the bracket, Winnemucca plays High Desert (Fernley) at 8 p.m. om Friday. The winner of that game plays the winner of Silverada/White and Battle Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The tournament runs through Wednesday, June 29.
