Vasquez, Jimenez, Del Rio named to Northern 2A all-league first team

A trio of Battle Mountain High School baseball players were named to the Northern 2A all-league first team, as well as the 2A all-state first and second teams.

Senior Anthony Del Rio was named to the Northern 2A all-league first team and all-state first team.

Del Rio hit .514 this season with four home runs, 15 doubles, 31 runs scored, 37 hits and 21 RBI. He was also one of the top pitchers in the state as well. 

Jr. Vazquez and Marcos Jimenez were named to the Northern 2A all-league-first team and the all-state second team.

Vazquez batted .451 with 37 hits, 12 doubles, 28 runs scored and 18 RBI. Jimenez batted .390 with a home run, five doubles, 31 runs scored, 30 hits and 11 RBI.

In addition, Battle Mountain’s Cory Mills was named the Northern 2A Coach of the Year and Yerington’s Justin Evasovic Jr., was named the Most Valuable Player. 

The Meadows’ Andy Concepcion was named the 2A State Coach of the Year and Yerington’s Vinny Angle was named the 2A State Most Valuable Player.

The Northern 2A first team included Vinny Angle, Yerington; Grayson Cooper, Yerington; Carlos Ortero, Yerington; Alexis Martinez, Yerington; Casey McGraw, Yerington; Jared Hock, Incline; Isaac Gonzalez, West Wendover; Adrian Carlos, West Wendover and Caedon Legarza, North Tahoe.

Battle Mountain’s Jake Perrone and Sage Holt were named to the Northern 2A second team.

Perrone batted .373 with 25 hits, 13 runs scored and 17 RBI and Holte batted .246 with 14 hits and 11 runs scored.

The remainder of that team was comprised of James DeMarias, Incline; Cameron Bodel, Incline; Eli Reyes, West Wendover; Keegan Nielson, West Wendover; Teegan Nielson, West Wendover; Pedro Salas, West Wendover; Parker Roach, North Tahoe; Burgen Koijane, North Tahoe; Tim Maguire, Silver Stage and Felix Garcia, Yerington.
