Lovelock Adult Softball returns for its fifth season

Judging by the turnout, Lovelock wholeheartedly supports adult softball. Teams compete at McDougal Park every Monday and Thursday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Jared Jensen became president of the softball association in 2019, after taking over from Trevor and Daphne Gurley who started it the year before. This will be Jensen’s fourth year at the helm.

“It’s going to be an interesting year. We are excited to have eight teams. I believe we will have more high-schoolers participating than we ever have,” he said.

The co-ed league is open to anyone 16 and over. Teens and retirees find common ground on the softball fields. Some of the competitions come down to the last inning. Teams also get blanked. It’s softball.

Thick N Wild are the defending champs, with several returning players. Other teams include Brew Crew, Modelo Time, Weekend Warriors, Second Stringers and Wolf Pack. They also have some returners, a plus for any squad.

Smokin’ Aces and Goyos Garage are new to the league, which met for the first games of the season on Monday, June 6. Results were not available at press time.

By the season’s end on July 28, each team will play about 16 games. Look for Jensen playing outfield for the Smokin’ Aces.
