All summer long, softball players compete at McDougal Field. By playing twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, everyone gets lots of minutes.

It shows.

“We look forward to it all year,” said Jessica Bohan, a member of the undefeated Wolf Pack. “It’s one thing that brings the whole town together.”

The co-ed league is open to players aged 16 and up.

On Monday, June 27, Wolf Pack defeated the Smokin’ Aces 15-13.

It was the closest game of the evening. The Pack remains undefeated.

Brew Crew slammed Goya’s Garage (28-4). Thick N Wild knocked off the Weekend Warriors (17-2).

The Second Stringers beat Modelo Time (18-8).

Board member Sean Luna says none of it would be possible without volunteers.

To name a few, Tony Nelson, Silvia and Carlos Portillo prep the field. Morgan Reid, Nicole Reitz and Raegan Burrows help with concessions. Alyssa, Leah and Erica Holland stay late to clean.

“Leaving the facility in better shape than we find it is crucial to keeping this league going,” said Luna.
