McDermitt girls drop non-conference game to Pyramid Lake

After going four weeks without a game, the McDermitt High School girls basketball team returned to the floor on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Pyramid Lake in a 1A non-conference match-up.

The Lakers, who came into the game 11-3, including wins over 5A schools Spanish Springs, Reno and Reed, beat the Lady Bulldogs 60-43. McDermitt dropped to 3-5 on the season.

McDermitt was led by freshmen Vina Tom and Laeloni Tobey. 

Tom knocked down six 3-pointers and was 4-for-6 from the free throw line for a team-high 22 point. She added 13 points and four assist.

Tobey added nine points and six points and Nicolette Northrup sank two 3-pointers for six points. The Lady Bulldogs were 80% from the 3-point line, shooting 8-of-10 form outside. Northrup also had seven rebounds and two assists.

Cayla Crutcher netted four points and Taylor Killsback added two points and four rebounds.

McDermitt was off this weekend. Jackpot doesn’t have a girls team and the Wells game on Saturday in McDermitt was postponed. It will be made up on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 3:30 p.m.

McDermitt is scheduled to travel to Owyhee on Friday and Carlin on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs are back home on Friday, Jan. 21, to host Eureka at 6 p.m.
