Obituary: Bingo George Wesner

Bingo George Wesner went to his heavenly home on December 26, 2021. Bingo was born on December 5, 1935, in Bakersfield, California.

The family moved to Vacaville, California in 1941.  Bingo attended Armijo High School and graduated in 1954.

He joined the Army in 1957 and served until 1963.  In 1957 he married Janet Gomez and they had two children Bing and Diane.

The family raised sheep and horses and Bingo also had a sheep shearing business in Benicia California.  Bingo and Janet competed in Horse Shows winning many awards

When tragedy struck the family business and they lost most of their livestock from toxic poisoning from the Oil Refinery, Bingo stated “I am giving up my Stetson and moving to the middle of nowhere” and the family moved to Lovelock, Nevada, in 1969.

Bingo and Doc Marioni were going to open a Vet Clinic, those plans did not transpire, the family purchased property on Old Emigrant Road and started their farming business, continuing to raise cattle, sheep and horses and active with Bing and Diane in 4-H and High School Rodeo.

Bingo continued his practical vet knowledge and was always stitching up animals for anyone who called and needed help no matter what time of day or night.

In 1980 he married Karen Thomsen and with that marriage he gained another son J P.  They continued the farming and cattle operation and spent many years on the road with High School Rodeo and Cutting Shows.

His sister Shirley got Bingo into traveling the world.  Bingo and Karen, Shirley and Jay traveled to Europe and Puerto Rico several times and then along with the Backebergs took many trips to Mexico and Hawaii.  They were planning another trip to Mexico in February.

Bingo loved his farming and ranching business.  Up until his death he worked as hard as any man could. People would marvel at his age and how tough he was.

He worked alongside his two sons striving to leave a legacy for them.  He was a loving and caring man who would give the shirt off his back to someone if they needed it.  He stood by his convictions and very rarely backed down.  He had a warm sense of humor and made friends wherever he went.  Bingo’s life revolved around his family and he was very proud of their accomplishments and taught them to be strong, hard workers and honest.

Bingo was President of the Kids, Horses and Rodeo Inc. and donated many hours supporting the events that took place at the Rodeo Grounds.

He was a 4-H Leader for over 50 years.   He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
