In a case involving lewdness with a child under the age of 14, Winnemucca resident Boyd Lords, age 54, changed his plea to guilty on one category A felony charge, facing life in prison on the offense.
Lords was originally arrested May 8, 2019 and booked into the Humboldt County Detention Center with a $2.5 million dollar bail on five felony counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 (violation of NRS 200.366) as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Winnemucca Police Department.
In July 2019, Lords appeared in Sixth Judicial District Court and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Last week, Lords changed his plea to guilty on one count category A lewdness with a child under the age of 14 as part of a plea agreement.
Court documents indicate several offenses committed between April 2016 and April 2018 in Winnemucca.
Records from the Transparent Nevada website indicate Lords collected a salary from the Humboldt County School District from 2011 to 2017 as a bus service worker and retired from the district.
Once sentenced, Lords would be required to register as a sex offender and maintain lifetime supervision with the state.
According to the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau, the penalty for each category A felony count of child sexual assault with a victim under 14 years of age with no substantial bodily harm is life in prison with a 35-year minimum for parole, no probation or suspended sentence.
On each category A felony count of lewdness with a child under 14 years of age, a defendant faces life in prison with a 10-year minimum for parole, no probation or suspended sentence and a maximum $10,000 fine.
