Battle Mountain High School quarterback Anthony Silva was named the Northern 2A Offensive Player of the year for the 2022 football season, which is selected by the league’s coaches.
Yerington’s Erik Rodriguez was named the Player of the Year and teammate Sammy Rios was selected as the Lineman of the Year. Pershing County’s Wyatt Diaz was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Year and Brad Pope of Yerington was named the Coach of the Year.
The Northern 2A first-team included Incline sophomore Tommy Williams at quarterback.
The running backs were comprised of Izayuh McGlothin (Pershing County, Felix Garcia (Yerington) and David Resindez (Incline).
Battle Mountain’s Sean Bengoa and Jr Vazquez were named as first-team wide receivers, along with Incline’s Colin Combs and the tight end was Daniel Joselin of North Tahoe.
Battle Mountain’s Ben George was one of six offensive linemen named to the first team, which included Vaughn Angle and Deondre John of Yerington, Wyatt Diaz (Pershing County), Marcos Resindez (Incline and Griffin Holcomb of Coral Academy.
Battle Mountain’s Liam Bundrock was named to the Northern 3A second team at wide receiver and Hunter Anderson earned honors on the offensive line.
The second team included Jacob Lutz (quarterback, North Tahoe), Noel Zaldivar (running back, Pershing County), Teague Neilson (running back, West Wendover), Lian Bateman (running back, Coral Academy), Justin Evasovic (tight end, Yerington), Aaron Kienbaum (wide receiver, Pershing County), Brian Parker (wide receiver, Silver Stage) and offensive lineman Ryker Carter (West Wendover), Levi Crank (Silver Stage), Sandro Huziar (Coral Academy ), Jacob Burke (Pershing County) and Ruben Velasquez (West Wendover).
Battle Mountain’s James Spealman and Wiatt Kelly were named to the honorable mention offense at running back and offensive line, respectively.
The Longhorns’ Jr Vazquez was a first-team choice at kicker and honorable mention selection at punter.
Sean Bengoa earned first-team honors as a kick returner and Pershing County’s Noel Zaldivar was a second-team selection.
Battle Mountain’s Hunter Anderson earned first-team honors on the defensive line along with Tristen Valdez and Ruben Velasquez of West Wendover, Yerington’s Justin Evasovic, Griffin Holcomb (Coral Academy) and Incline’s Marcos Resindez.
The first-team linebackers included Vaughn Angle (Yerington), Daniel Joselin (North Tahoe), Colin Combs (Incline) and Lian Bateman of Coral Academy).
Luis Sanchez and Izayuh McGlothin of Pershing County were pick at defensive back along with Jacob Lutz (North Tahoe) and Joey Duran (Incline).
The Longhorns’ Wiatt Kelly was named to the second team at defensive line and Anthony Silva was selected at defensive back.
Battle Mountain’s Terin Black was an honorable mention choice at defensive line and Liam Bundrock and Jr Vazquez were named at linebacker and defensive back, respectively.
