Obituary: Margaret Dianne Graeff Wehnau

Margaret Dianne Graeff Wehnau, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 2, 2022, in Carson City, NV.

Diane, as she was known, was born on Mar. 30, 1944, in Valentine, Cherry County, Nebraska, to Russel D. Graeff and Margaret D. Evans Graeff.

When Diane was 2, her family moved to Oroville, CA.  In 1963, she gave birth to her son, Ronald C. Howard, in Oroville, CA.

In 1966, Diane met Michael J. Wehnau at an Assembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  6 months later, on Feb. 18, 1967, they were married in Oroville, CA.

Ron was joined by 5 siblings: Danielle, Rebecca, Mishael, Jamal and Joclyn.  In 1975, the family moved to Lovelock, NV, to help the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Over the years, Diane and Mike cleaned the homes and businesses of many in Pershing County.

In 2007, the last child moved away.  For the first time in 40 years, they were without children.

Upon retiring, they spent all their free time in the door to door ministry.

Over the past 5 years, Diane slowed down, but never stopped, even after breaking her hip.  A few weeks before her death she started to feel unwell.

Cancer was discovered 3 days before her death.  She was generally healthy, so her sudden decline was unexpected.

Diane was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Richard.  She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mike; her sister, Beverly DePue; her children, Ron (Susan) Howard, Danielle (Brian) Workman, Rebecca (Phillip) Yancy, Mishael (Philip) Hogan, Jamal (Tonya) Wehnau and Joclyn; her grandchildren, Chelsea (Justin) Abbott, Felicia Howard, Christian (Angelica) Orona, Katelyn Howard, Cheyenne Yancy, Bethany Workman, Logan Workman and Milla Wehnau; and great grandchildren, Marcel Orona and Malachi Orona (due 1/3/23), and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial is set for Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at 2 pm, Pershing County Community Center, Lovelock, NV.
