Frank Gerald Moell “Cranky Frank” passed away on November 30, 2022.
He was born in Selby, South Dakota on December 13, 1932. Frank was the youngest of 9 children and spent his childhood in Selby on the family farm.
Due to being a bit of a wild child, Frank joined the Army at 17 years old and served in the Combat Engineers from 1949-1953.
When he was discharged from the Army he went back home to South Dakota where he met the love of his life, Olga.
They were married on December 17, 1955, and she was the center of his universe until his passing just a few weeks shy of their 67th anniversary.
They moved to Southern California where he joined the Operating Engineers, Local 12 and worked as a heavy equipment operator.
After several years they moved to Nevada where he joined the Operating Engineers, Local 3.
He retired from operating heavy equipment in 1989 but remained a member of Local 3 for 45 years.
After retiring in 1989 he became a diesel mechanic and finally officially retired in 2018 at the age of 85.
Frank never met a stranger in his life and would talk to anyone he met.
He loved to brag about his bride as well as his kids and his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Olga of Fallon; daughters, Leann Moell of Ridgecrest, CA; Lila Moell of Lovelock, NV, and Lisa Moura (Anthony) of Lovelock, NV; 8 grandchildren; Laloni, Holly, Jerry, Donovan, Dylan, Megan, Daralyn, and Devin; and 4 great-grandchildren; Dakota, Dillon, Deegan, and Hayden.
Frank didn’t like for anyone to fuss over him, so it was his wish not to have a public funeral; therefore, there will be a private family gathering to celebrate his life.
