The Lowry High School boys basketball team picked up its first wins of the season this past week in Winnemucca.
Lowry hosted Pyramid Lake in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Dec. 6 and beat the Lakers 50-35. The Buckaroos hosted Sparks in a crossover game on Saturday afternoon and beat the Railroaders 52-41 to improve to 2-3 on the season.

Lowry dominated the action in the early going, scoring 15 of the first 19 points of the game, with eight of those coming from Anthony Guzman.
Lance Brinegar also knocked down a 3-pointer in the first quarter, as the Buckaroos led 17-7 after eight minutes of play.
The Lakers bounced back with eight straight points to cut the deficit down to two points, but Isaac Danner answered with back-to-back baskets and Jaden Jimenez added a bucket to push the lead back to 23-26 at halftime.
Lowry opened the third quarter on a 11-2 run to go in front 34-18, as Brinegar had a pair of baskets and Danner and Dempsey Jenkins also added made shots.
The advantage grew to as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter after early baskets by Danner and Justin Scott.
Danner had a team-high 14 points, Guzman added nine, Brinegar eight, Jenkins five, Scot and Jimenez four each, Matthew Casalez three and Kayson Garner two.

Lowry began Northern 3A play with a crossover contest with Sparks on Saturday afternoon. The Buckaroos jumped out to a 7-2 lead behind buckets from Brinegar, Jenkins and Danner.
The Railroaders trimmed the lead to 13-12, when a 3-pointer by Jordan Bills helped the Buckaroos end the first half on an 8-0 run and give Lowry a 20-12 lead at halftime.
After trailing by as many as 10 points in the third quarter, Sparks climbed within four points at 26-22 with 3:09 left in the third quarter but that was as close as they got.
Bills answered back with a basket and Jenkins nailed a 3-pointer to push the advantage back to 31-22.
The Buckaroos could not shake off the Railroaders, who closed within three points at 37-34 with 6:02 to play, but foul troubled played a role for Sparks in the physical match-up.
Danner and Jenkins each made two free throws and Danner added two more baskets to push the Lowry lead to 45-35 with 4:29 to play.
The Buckaroos would make free throws down the stretch to earn the victory.
Jenkins and Danner each scored 13 points for Lowry and Bills joined them in double figures with 11. Brinegar scored eight points, Guzman four and Garner, Jimenez and Casalez each had one point.
Lowry was scheduled to host Truckee last Friday but was postponed due t travel concerns for the Wolverines and getting back home safely as a storm hit the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The game will be played Monday, Dec. 19, at 4:30 p.m.
Lowry travels to Reno on Wednesday to play Hug at 7:30 p.m. and to North Valleys on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
