This year, the Battle Mountains High School girls golf team has eight girls that have joined the team.
This past Thursday, the Lady Longhorns took two of those girls to Spring Creek to begin the new fall season. Vanessa Gillogley shot a 152 and Hannah Johnson carded a 176.
“For their first tournament and never playing the Spring Creek course they did well,” said BMHS coach Alley Leyva.
Coach Leyva commented and said that Gillogley told her the course played tough, was uphill and hot.
Johnson was playing in her first tournament and added “I had a lot of fun, it was a difficult course and I hope I never have to play the course again, respectfully.”
Battle Mountain travels to Ely on Thursday for the White Pine tournament at 10 a.m.
