Obituary: Julia Huerta Gomez

Our beautiful mother, Julia Huerta Gomez, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022, just shy of her 85th birthday.

The world lost a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and friend. Julia devoted her life to the Lord and her family.

Her life was spent enjoying the activities and accomplishments of her family and enjoying her time with them. She always made her home inviting and comfortable for all who visited her.

Julia was born in Lovelock, Nevada on September 22, 1937 to Dolores and Manuel Huerta.

She was one of 13 children. Julia grew up in Lovelock, married the love of her life, Salomon Gomez, and together they raised their family in Lovelock.

They were lifelong residents. Julia was mother to Gloria Tague, Dolores (Annie) Ramsey, Michal Casarez, Dan Gomez, Salomon Gomez Jr., Angela Suwinski, and Melodia Martinez.

She had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she absolutely adored.

Julia worked many, many years at Pershing General Hospital Nursing Home as a Certified Nurses’ Assistant where she provided sweet and loving care to many patients.

She was often given sincere thanks and gratitude by family members of those who she cared for.

Julia’s faith, aside from her husband, and her family, was the most important aspect of her life.

She read her Bible and Christian books daily and loved to watch her Christian programs, as she deepened her relationship and walk with the Lord.

She planted the seed of Christ in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She wanted all to know the love of the Lord and to share His word.

Julia was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Dolores Huerta, her husband, Salomon Gomez, her sisters Helen, Lily, and Pearl, her brothers Manuel and Marty, her grandson Luke and great-grandson, Seth.

She is survived by her children, Gloria, Dolores (Annie), Michal, Dan, Salomon, Angela and Melodia, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Through us in our memories and stories about her, her life here on earth will continue in us. We know all of Heaven, especially her husband, Salomon, is rejoicing as our sweet mom was welcomed onto the streets of gold.

Services were held at The Lovelock Community Center 820 6th Street Lovelock, Nevada on Thursday, August 18th at 11:00 am with a 10:00 am Viewing.

Burial immediately followed at the Lone Mountain Cemetery where Julia was laid to rest next to her husband. A luncheon followed the burial at The Lovelock Community Center.
