After having no games during spring break and a trip to Las Vegas thrown in, the Lowry High School softball returned to Northern 3A East play this past Saturday with a road trip to Spring Creek.
Coming off four straight losses in Las Vegas, the Lady Bucks got back on the winning track, sweeping the Spartans 10-1 and 15-6.
The series was set to begin on Friday in Elko County, but a snowstorm in Spring Creek had other ideas and the contest was moved to Monday. Results were not available at press time.

Spring Creek 1
Lowry jumped on the scoreboard first in the opener with a single run in the bottom of the first inning. Shelbie Hoyt began the rally with a walk and advanced to second on a bunt single by Bailey Hayes.
Two batters later, Kenzie Dowd-Smith scored Hoyt with a ground out to second base.
Hayden Case started a three-run rally in the second inning with a lead-off walks and scored on a double by Hoyt along with Jada Matheny.
The Lady Bucks added three more runs in the fifth inning, as Savannah Stoker led off with a triple and she scored on as Dowd-Smith reached on an error by Spring Creek. Kadence Cooney helped herself out with a base hit to score Megan Cook that made the score 7-1.
Hayes added a two-RBI single in the seventh to score Cook and Case and Stoker closed out the scoring a with an RBI-single that plated Hoyt.
Hayes paced Lowry with three hits and three RBI and Stoker added two, an RBI and run scored. Hoyt, Case, Cooney and Maddison McClure each had one hit.
Cooney went the distance in the circle for the complete-game victory. She allowed one run (none earned) on six hits. She struck out six and walked two.

Spring Creek 6
Lowry gave up an early run to Spring Creek in the first inning but dominated from there.
The Lady Bucks tied the game with a single run in the top of the second inning and added four runs apiece in the third and fourth innings to go in front 9-1.
A pop fly by McClure that was dropped in the infield, allowed Cooney to score to tie game at 1-1.
In the third inning, Cook had a single to score Haye s and Lowry scored three more runs on Spring Creek errors. I
n the fourth inning, Hayes, Dowd-Smith, Cook and Cooney had singled to push the advantage to 9-1.
The Lady Bucks put the game out of reach with five runs in the sixth inning that included a two-RBI double from Cooney.
Cook paced Lowry with three hits and Dowd-Smith and Cooney each had two hits. Saige Kirchesh, Hoyt and Hayes had one hit apiece.
Stoker got the win the complete-game effort, as she allowed six runs (nine he struck out 10 and walked six.
Lowry makes it final regular season road trip of the season to Fallon this weekend to play Churchill County. The series opens up on Friday at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Lowry is home on Monday, May 2, to play Fernley at 3 p.m. The two rivals will play a doubleheader on Tuesday. May 3, starting at 1 p.m.
Not counting Monday’s result with Spring Creek, Lowry is second in the Northern 3A East at 4-1. Fernley leads the league at 7-1, Churchill County (5-4) is third, followed by Spring Creek (5-5) and Elko (4-5).
North Valleys leads the Northern 3A West at 9-0, followed by Wooster (8-1) and South Tahoe (4-2). Lowry defeated all of the Northern 3A West teams.
The Northern 3A Regional Championships will be played in Winnemucca from May 12-14. The No. 1 East and West secure spots and the other four spots are determined by the best records, which includes crossover play.
