Three members of the Lowry High School track and field team made their way to California and the Sierra Nevada Mountains this past Friday to take part in the Colfax Invitational in Colfax, Calif.
Lowry senior Jovi Kuskie won the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 31.22 seconds to beat Foresthill’s McKenna Lechner by more than two seconds. Amador’s Sonja Mulhair (2:40.76) was third.
She was fourth in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 5:35.33, as Galena’s Mariah Davis (5:17.39) and Alyssa Bronander (5:25.52) were first and second, respectively.
Junior Ivan Lara set personal bests in the 3,200 meters and 1,600 meters. Lara placed second in the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:47.50, with North Valleys’ Paris Acosta winning at 10:43.46.
Lara placed fourth in the 1,600 meters at 4:57.20, with Nevada Union’s TJ Parnow winning with a time of 4:41.22. Wyatt Hamilton of Placer finished second at 4:49.78 and Colfax’s Daniel Buettner (4:53.48) was third.
Senior Tyler Morrison also set personal bests in the 400 meters and 800 meters. Morrison was fifth in the 400 meters at 54.20 and was the runner-up in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.80. Parnow won with a time of 2:04.76.
Lowry will split up its teams this weekend and take a group to Eureka on Friday and another to Reno on Saturday for the Northwest Invite at McQueen High School.
