Battle Mountain track and field team travels to North Valleys

The Battle Mountain High School track and field team traveled Reno this past Friday for the North Valleys Relays.

Nolan Chopp set a season best in the discus to place fifth with a toss of 117 feet, 10 inches. 

The senior placed eighth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 40-8.

Ayden Samuelson was eighth in the discus with a personal-best toss of 114-10 and he was 23rd in the shot put at 36-6. 

Ben Disbro placed 22nd in the shot put at 36-7 and he was 28th in the discus with a throw of 96-7.

Blake Stuart and Sean Bengoa tied for 15th in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-1 and Bengoa was 15th in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 17-10.50. 

Sean Scherer set a personal best in the pole vault to place 14th at 9-0.

The 4x100-meter shuttle hurdle, the foursome of Zach Duggan, Alex Wall, Stuart and Andy Wall were 10th in a time of 1 minute, 30.52 seconds. The SMR 100-200-400-meter relay of Bengoa, Armando Eusebio, Scherer and Scott Wall were 12th at 1:46.16.

The 4x200 relay of Aden Payzant, Alex Wall, Edgar Sanchez-Ruiz and Bengoa were 16th with a time of 1:49.92 and the 4x400 relay of Antoine Powell, Duggan, Eusebio and Scott Wall were 17th at 4:11.79.

On the girls side, Jennifer Galvin set a personal best in the shot put with a toss of 28-1.50 and Yezzel Guizar set a personal best in the event with a throw of 23-7. 

In addition, Guizar was 14th in the pole vault at 5-0. Divine Jacobson set a personal best in the shot put to place 51st at 17-7.

Jolena Ayers placed 13th in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 14-7.50 and Lilly Peterson also set a personal best in the long jump at 12-6 to finish 31st. n 

The 4x800 relay of Emily Lisabelle, Galvin, Tessa Ostler and Ayers was 13th in a time of 11:58.48. The 4x200 relay of Bailey Elderkin, Hanson, Peterson and Bleak were 14th at 2:10.78 and the 4x100 relay of Hanson, Bleak, Ostler and Peterson were 16th in a time of 60.46.

The SMR 100-200-400-meter relay comprised of Hanson, Ostler, Bleak and Lisabelle were 16th at 2:26.14.

Battle Mountain travels to Eureka on Friday.
