Battle Mountain NNA swim team perform well in Reno

The Battle Mountain NNA Swim Team was back in the pool March 26-27 in Reno for Northern Nevada Aquatics Age Group Open. The group had a number of great performances and continue to improve their times. Nevaeh Serna earned high-point on the weekend and qualified for two more events for the Far Westerns.

Serna won seven events including the 12 and under 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1 minute, 7.56, a 3.37 second improvement.

She broke 36 seconds in the 50-yard backstroke to end with a time of 35.69 and Serna took nearly a second off in the 100-yard individual medley to win with a time of 1:20.14. 

She took home the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:30.86, as well as the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.04), a 1.29 second improvement.

She cut off 1.82 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly to win at 1:27.48 and she led the way in the 50-yard freestyle at 30.76, a 1.29-second improvement. Serna placed second in the 50-yard butterfly, a 1.24-second improvement. 

Saige Bakker won the girls 12 and under 50-yard backstroke with a time of 48.54, a 4.48-second improvement. Bakker collected runner-up finishes in the 25-yard freestyle (18.24) and the 100-yard individual medley at 2:18.11, a whopping 33.13-second improvement. She was fourth in the 35-yard breaststroke at 33.32. 

Daxon Bakker placed second in the boys 12 and under 50-yard backstroke with a time of 46.87, a 2.13-second improvement. He was fourth in the 100-yard individual medley at 1:58.63 and took off nearly three seconds in the 100-yard freestyle to finish fifth in a time of 1;32.90.

Bakker placed sixth in the 50-yard breaststroke (1:01.57) and was third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:45.26, after taking more than eight seconds off his previous best time. 

He added a sixth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at 41.55. 

Molly Riboux placed 18th in the 100-yard breaststroke in the girls13 and over division with a time of 1:34.57, a 2.70-second improvement. 

She was 19th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:42.50), 20th in the 200-yard individual medley (3:14.59) and 24th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:10.88), a 4.10-second improvement. 

Riboux was 24th in the 50-yard freestyle at 30.74, nearly three seconds quicker than previous and she was 28th in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:29.75.

McKenzie Burkhart finished 25th in the girls 13 and over division in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:51.25. She placed 33rd in the 100-yard freestyle (1:31.79) and 35th in the 50-yard freestyle at 39.75.

In the 8 and under division, Olivia Bauer took off five seconds to finish seventh in the 25-yard freestyle in a time of 31.00. 

Michael Lovelace competed in the 13 and over division and was 14th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 3:35.45. 

He placed 17th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:58.16), 19th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:41.52) and 22nd in the 50-yard freestyle (43.55).
