The Pershing County High School girls soccer team hosted the Incline Highlanders on Saturday morning at Yanni Field and lost 8-0.

“Today was a tough one,” said coach Matt Fuller. “We have 18 ladies, but a few were out today and we have a few out for injuries.”

To cover the positions, many of the girls tried out new roles.

“I moved Kylee (Fuller) and Mikayla (Leavitt) to the defense. We wanted to put some more experience back there,” continued the coach. They kicked Incline’s ball out of bounds before it got to Pershing’s goal as often as they could.

Miya Gallagher, a sophomore, stepped up as goalie and had several saves.

“It was tough being my first time, but I want to keep gaining experience and get better,” she said.

On Friday, Sept. 24, the Mustangs travel to Reno to compete against the Sage Ridge Scorpions.

On Tuesday, Sept. 28, Pershing hosts rival school Battle Mountain at 7 p.m.
