John Wayne Mawhorter passed away at the age of 72 on September 6,2021 after a brief illness.
He was born November 23, 1948 in Holton, Kansas. He served in the Navy from November 1967 – November 1973, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He worked in the propane industry for approximately 25 years.
He married Judy Gail Welsh (Norris) in August 20, 1988. They moved to Winnemucca in 1993 where he was active in the Winnemucca Pool League for several years. He also enjoyed watching MMA and boxing.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Geneva, and wife Judy. He is survived by brother Dale Mawhorter and sister Joyce Bestwick; children Carole, Jeff, Mike and Amanda; grandchildren Jeremiah (Giselle), Tyler (Adeline), Justin, James, Lauren; great grandchildren Jeremiah, Odette, James, Evelyn and Nicholas.
At John’s request there will be no services.
