Nevada softball announces assistant coach

Nevada head coach Linda Garza announced Marina Demore has been hired as an assistant coach.

“Coach Marina Demore comes with national team and high-caliber playing experience,” Garza said in a news release. “ Coach D has familiarity with the Mountain West, experience integrating technology, alongside the day-to-day work progression of bullpen planning.”

A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Demore joins Garza’s staff after spending a season at Northern Kentucky University serving as a pitching coach.

Demore also served as a graduate student manager at Fresno State from 2018-20, where she focused on day-to-day softball operations, game and practice analytics, served as the pre- and post-game video manager, and assisted with facility and game management.

Prior to Fresno State, Demore worked as a volunteer coach under Garza at University of California, Riverside in 2016, and was an assistant coach at Loyola University Chicago in 2015.

A former player at Oregon State, Demore helped her team to back-to-back NCAA regionals in 2012 and 2013.

As a member of Team Canada, Demore participated in the 2013 Pan American Games, placing second.

Demore earned a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State in biology in 2014, and continued her academic career in Fresno State, earning a master’s degree in kinesiology.

Demore rounds out Nevada softball coaching staff for this upcoming season.
