The Lowry High School boys soccer team was back home this past weekend for a pair of matches against squads from the Northern 3A West.
Lowry took on perennial Northern 3A power Truckee on Friday afternoon and suffered a 5-1 loss to the Wolverines.
The Buckaroos’ Andrew Bravo scored in the first half to keep the match tied 1-1 at halftime. Truckee scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal in the 51st minute. Lowry had a scoring opportunity in the 51st minute off a free kick but could not convert and had two more chances in the 60th minute, but could not find the net.
Truckee made the score 3-1 in the 62nd minute and added goals in the 79th minute and on the final play of the game to account for the final outcome.
Marco Ruiz had 10 saves for the Buckaroos.

Reno a member of the Northern 5A saw its boys soccer team drop to the Northern 3A on the NIAA rubric realignment system.
The Huskies play all their other sports in the 5A. The Huskies dropped after Sparks and North Valleys moved from the 3A to 5A in boys soccer only.
The Huskies scored off a direct kick in the third minute on Saturday afternoon and went on to win 3-0. Lowry dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the Northern 3A.
Reno scored with two minutes to left in the first half to lead 2-0. Reno added a third goal in the 53rd minute on a shot from about 30 yards out that found the top of the net.
Jordan Wirthlin (three) and Jesus Guizar (two) combined for five of the Buckaroos’ seven shots. Ruiz had nine saves on the day.
Lowry hits the road this weekend to play two more new members of the Northern 3A.
The Buckaroos will be in Reno on Friday to play Bishop Manogue at 4:45 p.m. and will be at McQueen on Saturday for a 11:45 a.m. start.
Lowry hosts Churchill County on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 4:45 p.m.
