Thompson leads BMHS cross country runners

The Battle Mountain High School boys cross country team wrapped up its regular season this past Friday afternoon in Carson City at the Sierra Lutheran High School Dave Marson Trail Race.

Sophomore Spencer Thompson paced the Battle Mountain boys, placing 16th in a time of 22 minutes, 20.54 seconds.

Senior David Traweek was 24th in a time of 25:26.95 and Julian Sosa (25:33.96) and Alexander Colver (25:56.42) were 36th and 37th, respectively.

South Tahoe won the race in a time of 18:54.45 and Lowry's Eduardo Martinez-Calderon was second at 19:17.66.

Lowry's Jovi Kuskie won the girls race by nearly three minutes.

She stopped the clock at 21:28,38, as Dayton’s Whitney Winward was second at 24:14.49.

Virginia City’s Kalia Anchors was third at 24:49.68 and Wooster’s Avery Redmon (25:13.60) and Sierra Lutheran’s Saige Gregory (25:31.78) rounded out the top five.

The Northern 3A Regional Championships are Friday at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks. The Northern 2A boys run at 10:35 a.m.
