The McDermitt High School volleyball team was back on its home floor, as the Bulldogs celebrated their Homecoming last week.

McDermitt gave Owyhee everything it could handle, but suffered a three-set defeat 26-24, 25-8 and 25-17.

Owyhee scored the first four points of the opening set, but McDermitt struck back with five straight points to take the lead. Taylor Killsback had two aces and a kill by Cayla Crutcher.

Owyhee opened up a 13-10 advantage midway through the set, when McDermitt rallied to score the next three points after a block by Nicolette Northrup and two aces by Crutcher.

The back-and-forth battle continued, as Owyhee came back with the next three points but McDermitt tied the set at 17.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped in front at 21-17, with the final three of those points coming off aces by Crutcher. A kill by Breena Crutcher increased the McDermitt lead to 23-18, but Owyhee scored the next six points to go in front 24-23.

The Lady Bulldogs tied the set at 24, but Owyhee scored the final two points, including the winning point on a hitting error by McDermitt.

Owyhee ran with the momentum and scored 11 of the first 12 points of the second set. A kill by Tom ended the run, but Owyhee increased its lead to 14-4.

An ace by Tom closed the gap to 14-6, when Owyhee reeled off the next 10 points off of one server.

The third set was tied at 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11-11, as both teams could not pull away. Owyhee took over midway through the set with an 8-1 run to lead 19-12.

A kill by Northrup ended the spurt and the Lady Bulldogs closed within five points at 22-17 after and ace by Northrup, but Owyhee scored the final three points of the set to win the match.
