The Pershing County soccer team has four more goals to its credit.
Last Thursday, Oct. 21, they traveled to Battle Mountain to play the Longhorns. The game tied up at zero for the first 20 minutes.
That’s when Yasmin Acosta found the goal and took a shot. Within minutes, Kylee Fuller took a rebound off a Battle Mountain player and blasted it past their goalkeeper, ending the half at 2-0.
In the second half, Acosta took a pass from Fuller and shot past a diving goalkeeper to score. Marina Corcuera scored Pershing’s fourth goal of the game.
“Marina took a shot from the left side of the field past a goalkeeper’s outreached hands,” said Coach Matt Fuller. “It was a great game all around and the ladies did an excellent job of moving the ball around and talking all game.”
Pershing County’s defense hobbled Battle Mountain’s attack. They still took several shots but none of them got past Lily Anderson-Burt, Lovelock’s freshman goalkeeper.
Pershing County hosted Sage Ridge on Monday, Oct. 25. Results for the senior day game were not available at press time.
