The Lowry High School girls soccer team started the second half of the Northern 3A East schedule in the total opposite way it started the season.
When Lowry played at Fallon in September, the Lady Bucks lost 8-2 to the Greenwave. The two teams got back together on Tuesday, Oct. 12, in Winnemucca, with Lowry winning 3-1 to improve to 5-6-1 overall and 2-4 in the Northern 3A East.
Lowry kicked off the scoring two minutes into the match off a close-range shot by Elizabeth Aguilar.
Seven minutes later, the Lady Bucks were back on the board when Emily Backus connected from the left side of the net from about 20 yards out to give Lowry a 2-0 lead.
Lowry closed out the scoring in the 25th minutes, when Aguilar took a pass from Alia Novi and connected with the shot. The Lady Bucks took that 3-0 lead into halftime.
After a lull in the action, Churchill County broke on to the scoreboard in the 60th minute to cut the gap to 3-1.
The Greenwave had an opportunity to trim the deficit with a goal in the 73rd minute, but a penalty kick sailed high above the net.
That proved to be one of the final scoring chances for Churchill County, as Lowry held on for the win.
Lowry travels to Dayton on Friday for a 3:45 p.m. start and will be in Fernley on Saturday for a 10 a.m. start. The Lady Bucks host Spring Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 3:45 p.m.
