Everett Edwin Johnson passed away peacefully on October 7, 2021, in Harmony Manor at the age of 91.
Everett was born July 4, 1930, in Battle Mountain, NV to Edwin Johnson and Elaine Johnson-Milner.
He was raised in Midas, NV with his olde sister, Edna Schylur. At the age of 12, he moved to Utah with his father and sister.
At age 21, Everett met the love of his life, Pansy Comstock. Everett was working for Mill Creek Lumber Company in Salt Lake City, UT in 1951, when he was drafted into the Army.
When he was home on leave from boot camp, he married Pansy on August 20, 1951.
He was deployed shortly after to Korea, he served in Company E 19th infantry regiment.
Upon his return from Korea, Everett and Pansy made their way to Nevada in 1962. Winnemucca became their forever home, where they raised 3 children.
Everett worked as a gas station manager for several years, he was a laborer during the construction of the Valmy Power Plant, he worked for the Humboldt County School District as Head Custodian until his retirement.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for many years.
He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering on his cars and was a big NASCAR fan.
He loved being with his family especially his grandchildren. Everett was a wonderful husband, a great father and loving papa.
As his daughter, Maelene, would say, “He was the best dad a daughter could ask for.
He loved his family, he worked hard and would help anyone who needed it.”
Everett is survived by his loving daughter, Maelene Sortor, who took care of her dad and never missed a day with him.
His son-in-law, Mike Sortor, his grandsons Chase (Lyleann) Sortor and Michael (Aimee) Sortor, great-grandchildren, Laena and Ryker. Son, David Johnson, daughter, Faith Hawley, granddaughters, Jennica and Rebecca. Brothers, Louis Johnson, Alfred (Vi) Milner and Billy Milner and sister, Wanda Jones.
Numerous nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Julie Street and his buddy, Dennis.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Pansy of 65 years. Parents, Edwin and Elaine Johnson-Milner. Sister, Edna (Charles “Smokey”) Schylur and sister-in-law, Ann Johnson.
Per Everett’s request, there will be a small family only graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, his daughter, Maelene, asked that you do something kind for the elderly in the community.
