The varsity boys had the week off but Pershing’s JV football team represented Lovelock with skill and finesse.

The JV team hosted the Coral Academy Falcons on Thursday, Oct. 7. The Mustangs beat the Falcons with a final score of 46-6.

“The kids played their hearts out and it showed on the scoreboard,” said coach Jared Jensen. “Travis Donaldson (#1) had a remarkable game. Offensively, we had lots of good performances. Our whole line played well.”

The spirit squad had plenty to cheer about. The girls donned their warm-ups as the temperature dropped and the fall night grew chilly.

“Tyrn Sam ran with power complimented by Luis Sanchez’s speed. Tyrn also had a good game as linebacker. Our receivers blocked their tails off. Defensively, we played more aggressively than we did last game.”

Jensen was referring to Pershing County ’s 36-6 loss to visiting Lowry on Oct. 1.

The varsity squad travels to West Wendover on Friday. The football program hosts rival school Battle Mountain on Friday, Oct. 22. The JV kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7 p.m.
