Volleyball’s Petersen named All-Conference
University of Nevada's Sydney Petersen earned All-Mountain West honorable mention as part of the league's volleyball postseason awards announced Wednesday.
"Sydney had a great year for us," said head coach Lee Nelson, "She was often the focus of our opponent's defense with two and even three blockers on her, and she still found a way to put up some great hitting numbers."
Petersen, a junior from Snohomish, Wash., was first on the team in blocks (98) and second in kills (224) with a .310 hitting percentage. Petersen finished the season ranked seventh in blocks in the conference individual leaders with 61 blocks in conference matches.
She is currently in seventh for total blocks (312) and sixth for block assists (283) in the individual career school record book.
This is Petersen's first athletic Mountain West honor. She has twice been named to the Academic All-Mountain West team.
