Estelle LeVasseur Elordi died at the age of 100 years old in Winnemucca, Nevada on November 20, 2021.
Estelle was born on August 22, 1921 in Dayton, Minnesota to Leo and Anna LeVasseur.
She traveled to California with a friend and ended up in Portland, Oregon, working in the shipyards during WWII as a tacker for welders.
She married Floyd “Shadow” Elordi on April 10, 1944, in Portland, after meeting him in the shipyards.
They moved back to Jordan Valley, Oregon following the war with their oldest daughter, Suzanne.
The couple welcomed 7 children into their home, Suzanne, Rosalyn, David, Kenneth, Paul, Marie, and Dennis.
They lived in various places throughout the Pacific Northwest: McDermitt, NV, Othello, WA, Adrian, OR, Marsing, ID and Jordan Valley, OR.
The kids learned to work hard and were proud of their family and heritage.
Estelle was an accomplished cook and worked throughout her life as a caregiver, waitress, and store clerk. She enjoyed visiting with friends, playing cards, and doing puzzles (while she had good eyesight).
She loved spending time with her grandkids, living and working beside them up until she retired in 1986. After retiring, she moved to Winnemucca, Nevada where she continued to enjoy grandkids and great grandkids.
Estelle is survived by her siblings: Lucille Brown, Leon (Joan) LeVasseur, and Arnold LeVasseur; her children: Suzanne (Dallas) Boyer, Rosalyn (Sam) Pitman, David (Gladys) Elordi, Kenneth (Deva) Elordi, Paul (Carmen) Elordi, Marie Casalez, and Dennis Elordi; 18 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grandchildren, and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna LeVasseur; her siblings: Marvel Dahlen, Allen LeVasseur, Lloyd LeVasseur, and Warren LeVasseur.
A rosary will be on December 2nd at 5:00 pm with a viewing to follow.
The funeral is scheduled for 1:00 pm on December 3rd, both the rosary and funeral will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McDermitt, Nevada.
A reception will be held on the 3rd at the McDermitt Community Hall following the services. Rev. Jose (Pepe) Sabarzo will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Estelle’s life.
