Women’s basketball brunch dates announced

The Nevada women’s basketball brunches with head coach Amanda Levens, student-athletes and other members of the coaching staff return to Silver Legacy Resort.

The Wolf Pack invites fans to the Silver Legacy Resort in the Silver Baron Ballroom A at the Row in downtown Reno. Levens, staff, and student-athletes will talk about the season, upcoming games, and the excitement surrounding the basketball program.

The brunch dates this year are Wednesday, Dec. 15;  Friday, Jan. 14; and Monday, Feb. 14. Tickets cost $25.

 

Women’s basketball names play-by-play announcer

Larry Burnett, a two-time Emmy Award winner, has been named Nevada women’s basketball’s play-by-play announcer for the 2021-22 season.

Burnett has over 40 years of play-by-play and broadcast experience. Burnett, a New Jersey native, has called games for ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers and Sparks, Flosoftball.com, Reno Aces, Pepperdine and FOX Sports.

At ESPN, Burnett hosted “SportsCenter,” “The NBA Today” and “College Football Scoreboard” while anchoring ESPN’s Olympic coverage in Canada and South Korea. Burnett spent time with KLAC-AM and served as radio host for the Lakers’ back-to-back championship seasons. He also hosted the “Phil Jackson Show,” the “Laker Zone” pre-game show and “Lakers’ Line” post-game call-in show.

Burnett spent 16 seasons as the radio and television play-by-play voice for the Los Angeles Sparks.

Burnett is the author of “Don’t Let the Lipstick Fool You,” the life story of WNBA champion and Olympic gold medalist Lisa Leslie.

Fans can listen to Nevada’s games on CBS Sports Radio, 94.1 FM/1450 AM.

Nevada Athletics 

supports food drive

Nevada Athletics and SAAC have collaborated to host an on-campus food drive during football, men’s, and women’s basketball games.

Individuals who participate in the food drive will receive discounted admission at the ticket office window for any goods they bring in.

Football and men’s basketball tickets will be $5 with a donated canned food item while women’s basketball tickets will be $3 with a canned food item.

 The schedule includes:

• Women’s Basketball vs. Drake, Nov. 26; vs. Idaho, Nov. 27; vs. San Francisco, Nov. 28

• Men’s Basketball vs. Pepperdine, Nov. 30

All donations will directly benefit the Northern Nevada Food Bank.
