Goldie passed away November 9th, 2021, in Winnemucca, NV at the age of 103.
Goldie was born July 18th, 1918, in Townsend, MT to Charles Oscar Huskey and Pearl Rose Doke. Goldie was the sixth child of eight.
Goldies family moved to Jordan Valley, OR then eventually settled in Paradise Valley, NV where her family called it home.
Eventually she found love with her first husband, Calvin Riley and they had three children together: Barbara Jean Riley, Janet Mae Riley, and Leslie Jay Riley.
At this time, Goldie was a cook for the Schwartz ranch in Paradise Valley, NV and continued to do this up until her job as a switchboard operator. Goldie operated a switchboard from her home in Paradise until she moved into Winnemucca, NV.
She was then able to continue working as a telephone operator at the new location known as Nevada Bell and continued with this job until she retired.
Around this time, she had lost her first husband Calvin and later found love with her second husband, Harold Holbrook.
Goldie had a love for riding horses, gardening, canning, cooking, baking, reading books, putting together puzzles, sewing quilts (she made at least 100 of them) telling family stories (one of which included her family house on Cottonwood Ranch as a young child) and a great love for her family. Goldie had always seen the good in everyone and her house was always an open door.
Goldie was preceeded in death by her parents, Charles, and Pearl.
Her brothers, a baby boy (8 months), Charles (Bud) and Frederick Huskey. Her sisters: May “Margaret”, Jennie (Jean), Barbara and Lily Huskey. Her daughters Barbara and Janet, her first husband Calvin and her second husband Harold.
Goldie is survived by her son Leslie “Jay” Riley, her grandchildren Gina Dory, Steve Jenista (Shelly Luke), Jay Riley (Christy Riley), Jon Riley (Kimberly Riley), and Glynnys Pentecoste (Mark). Her great grandchildren; Ereanna Riley (Christopher Maw), Jon Jr. Riley (Lupe Riley), Trenton Riley (Nikki Riley), Madison Riley, Jason Riley, Deston Rogers (Mikayla Rogers), Jaycelynn Riley (Enoc Borbon), Lily Ann Riley, C.J. Riley, Trevor McElroy (Cheyenne McElroy), Tyler McElroy (Cosey Gibson), her Oregon cousins; Del and Mikey Faulds, Emma and Dewey France and Gail Lee and her son in law Jim Jenista. Goldie has numerous great great grandchildren and counting.
Goldie created quite the legacy and will be so deeply missed. There will be no services as per Goldies’ request.
