Augusta “Gussie” Elizabeth Dorian, 90, passed away on November 10, 2021, in Winnemucca, NV. She was born on February 11, 1931, in Sacramento, CA.
She grew up and lived in Walnut Grove, CA until she married James B. Dorian on January 17, 1954, in Sacramento, CA.
They then resided in Courtland, CA until August of 1961 when they moved to the Buffalo Ranch in Orovada, NV.
In 1965, Gussie joined the Humboldt County Cattlewomen as one of twenty-two charter members. In 1966, the family leased the Rocky View Bar in Orovada and purchased the Orovada Merc in 1969.
After the Orovada Merc sold, they moved to Dorian Drive in Orovada and Gussie kept busy operating harvest equipment.
Later, she enjoyed visiting with friends as she worked at the Sawtooth Station.
She also read meters for Harney Electric and maintained the Orovada Cemetery and Community Hall.
Gussie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James B. Dorian, grandson, Travis P. Zimmerman, granddaughter, Nicole Rounds and sister, Nancy Glowacki.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynette (Wes) Murphy, Janie (John) Welch and Sally Stager. Nephews, Jesse (Kim) Walsh and Hank (Wendy) Mehciz, grandchildren, Cory J. (Tina) Zimmerman, Derick (Sadie) Driggs, McKenzie (Quinn) Staats, and great grandchildren, Jillian Zimmerman, Aiden Zimmerman, Dawson Driggs, Daylee Driggs, Demi Driggs and Oaklyn Stager.
Internment will take place at Orovada Cemetery on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Orovada Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to an organization of your choice in Gussie’s name.
