They seemed to be everywhere. The Lovelock Pop Warner youth football team made a strong showing in Winnemucca on Saturday, Nov. 6. Flag Football, the Rookies and the Seniors came to Highland Park ready to compete.

Winnemucca sent three teams to the competition. Battle Mountain also came to play football.

Lovelock’s Pop Warner Seniors won 42-35 against Winnemucca white. The Flag Footballers won 34-14 against Winnemucca blue. The Rookies lost 0-6 against Battle Mountain in the closing moments of the game, earning runner-up status.

“We lost last minute,” said  the Rookie’s coach Jesse Canchola. “It was a tough, good game- a defensive game as you can see. They played hard.”

“The future is bright for Mustang football,” he added.
