McDermitt track and field team closes out season at regional championships in Elko

The McDermitt High School track and field team closed out its season at the 1A East Regional Championships in Elko this past Friday.

Enrique Villalobos posted a runner-up finish in the shot put with a toss of 30 feet, 7 inches. Wells’ Grant Kington won the event at 32-6. Villalobos was fourth in the discus with a toss of 83-4.

Braeden Ramsey placed third in the 800 meters, with a personal-best time of 2 minutes, 41.44 seconds. In addition, Ramsey was sixth in the 100-meter dash at 14.21.

Jason Villalobos (2:53.94) and Tristan Bitt (2:57.50) were fourth and fifth in the 800 meters, while Lane Barrett was sixth in the 200 meters at 31,72 and seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.88. In addition, Bitt placed seventh in the discus with a toss of 74-4, a personal best and Barrett was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 25-11.

Freshman Jeremiah Horn set personal bests in the shot put (23-10) to place 10th and the discus (53-0.50) to placed 12th.

The 4x200 relay took home the top spot in a time of 2:03.44 and the 4x100 relay was second at 57.48.

On the girls side, sophomore Cayla Crutcher was third in the discus with a throw of 63-7 and sixth in the shot put at 24-4. 

Freshman Nicolette Northrup placed fifth in the shot put at 24-6, a personal best and she finished sixth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 59-6.
