The Lowry High School rack and field team ended its season in cold, windy and wet weather in Fallon on Saturday at the Northern 3A Regional Championships.
The Buckaroo’s Shaun Gilliland led a 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault for the Buckaroo boys. The win by Gilliland was the lone victory for Lowry on the day.
The junior set a personal best, clearing the bar at 11-0. Scot Brown was second at 10-6 and Kaid Sanchez (10-3) was third. It was personal bests for both of them as well.
In addition, Brown was 12th in the high jump with a mark of 5-0, Sanchez was 19th in the long jump (14-11.75) and Gilliland was 25th in the long jump at 13-6.75.
Iysis Arriola collected a runner-up finish in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 18-10.50 and the junior was third in the triple jump at 37-0-25. In addition, Arriola was 17th in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.39 seconds.
Gunner Bradley was second in the high lump, as the junior cleared the bar at 5-10 for a personal-best mark.
Tyler Morrison was fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:15.12 and Ivan Lara placed 10th in the 1,600 meters (5:15.68) and 12th in the 3,200 meters with a personal-best time of 11:46.72.
Nomar Aguirre threw a personal-best 25-8,50 to place seventh in the shot put and the freshman was 16th in the discus with a toss of 85-9.
Jesse Jeronimo was 11th in the discus with a throw of 92-0, 12th in the high jump at 5-0 and 17th in the long jump with a mark of 15-0.75.
Tyson Terry set a personal best in the shot put at 33-11 to place 13th and he was 13th in the discus at 88-0. Julian Aguirre finished 17th in the discus (82-10) and 25th in the shot put (30-11.50) and Ryan Arrien was 14th in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 33-10.50.
Austin Formby was 15th in the 3,200 meters with a personal-best time of 11:57.92, while teammate Angel Huerta set a personal best at 11:58.75) to place 16th. Huerta (5:26.47) was 16th in the 800 meters and Formby placed 19th in the event at 5:30.59. Those times were personal bests for both runners.
Erick Prado was 27th in the 800 meters and Carson Primeax was 32nd in the 200 meters and 36th in the 100-meter dash.
The 4x800 relay of Lara, Eduardo Martinez-Calderon, Huerta and Morrison were fourth in a time of 9:21.60.
Spring Creek won the men’s team title with 162.50 points and Fernley (91) was second. North Valleys (82), Dayton (76) and Lowry (56) rounded out the top five.
On the girls side, Jovi Kuskie was third in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:42.56 and the junior set a personal-best time of 2:34,21 to place fourth in the 800 meters.
McKenzi Petersen placed fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-0, while teammate Lucy Dangel was fourth in the pole vault at 7-0. Ashley Rookstool and Mia Hernandez also cleared 7-0 in the pole vault to tie for sixth place.
Hernandez was 11th in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 13-7.75, 11th in the 200 meters (29.97) and 13th in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 14.27. In addition, Dangel was 16th in the long jump at 16-0.
Lesley Martinez placed sixth in the discus with a toss of 81-8 and eighth in the shot put at 26-10.50, while Emily Schoenecker was seventh in the discus (74-11) and 17th I the shot put (22-1).
Saree Millikan set a season-best in the discus with a throw of 72-11 to place ninth in the discus and Millikan was 16th in the shot put at 22-7.50.
Valeria Valdez was 12th in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 23-6 and Valdez set a personal best in the discus at 66-2 to place 16th.
Ellanora Petersen was 17th in the 100 meters (14.47) and 17th in the 200 meters (30.45), both personal bests and the sophomore placed 23rd in the long jump with a mark of 12-4.75.
Calli Keith set personal bests in the long jump (12-10) and triple jump (24-7) to finish 18th and 19th, respectively. Madison Duvall finished 25th in the 100 meters and 30th in the 200 meters and Destiny Medicine Cloud was 35th in the 100 meters.
Spring Creek won the team title with 192 points and Truckee was second at 152.50. Lowry was seventh with 29.50 points.
