The 3A East boys golf season came to a close for Lowry High School on Wednesday, May 19, at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko.
Despite missing the first tournament of the season, Fernley claimed the regional championship, shooting 350. Elko was a close second on its home course at 356 and Lowry was third with a round of 397.
Spring Creek, the winner in Winnemucca the week before, was fourth at 403 and Churchill County (413) and Dayton (419) rounded out the team scores.
Fernley’s Isaac O’Neill was the low medalist with an impressive round of 3-over par 75. O’Neill was also named the Player of the Year in the 3A East.
Elko’s Kaden Konakis and Spring Creek’s Kevin Thompson tied for second at 81. Konakis was awarded second on the scorecard tiebreaker and Thompson was third. Both players were named to the all-league, first team.
Lowry freshman Landon Esquivel and junior Cal Peters each shot 96 on the day.
Both players were named to the all-league, first team. Hunter Smith broke 100 for the Buckaroos and finished at 99.
Coda Nichols and Seamus Maloon each shot 106 and Austen Rorex finished at 126.
The remainder of the first team included Dayton’s Andrew Smith and Fernley’s Jacob Holmes and Noah Davis.
The second team was comprised of Elko’s Brandon Dwyer, Gage Thompson and Derek Elquist; Churchill County’s Owen Palmer and Colton Tousigant and Spring Creek’s Conner Teeter.
Fernley took home the league championship with 28 points.
Elko was second at 22 and Lowry and Spring Creek tied for third with 20 points apiece. Churchill County (10) was fifth and Dayton (6) placed sixth.
