The Lowry High School swim team joined the rest of the Northern 3A this past weekend for the regional championships at the Carson Aquatic Center in Carson City.
A pair of Buckaroo swimmers made it to the finals on Saturday, which featured the top eight swimmers in each event. Freshman Paris Collins was fifth in the girls 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 30. 21 seconds, which was two seconds quicker than her preliminary time. Collins was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:08.54.
Zoey Theis swam for the Lowry girls in the preliminary races of the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Mackenzie Swensen took part in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
The Lowry girls finished eighth as a team with 28 points. Truckee won the team title with 460 points.
Matthew Lizanetz placed the Lowry boys with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.87. The junior placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.81.
Ashton Kalkoske was fifth in the 200-yard freestyle, as the senior had a time of 2:24.42.
The 200-yard freestyle relay of Kalkoske, Ashton Parry, Caden Montero and Lizanetz were seventh in a time of 2:08.52. The same foursome was sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay at 4:47.04.
The Lowry boys were eighth as a team with 93 points. Truckee claimed the team title with 420 points.
