The Battle Mountain High School baseball team closed out the regular season with a doubleheader loss at Yerington this past Saturday. The Lions won the opener 11-0 and the nightcap 9-0, as the Longhorns finished the regular season in third place in the Northern 2A at 6-6 and 7-7 overall.
In the second game, the Lions scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings to lead 3-0. Yerington broke the game open with six runs in the fifth inning.
Battle Mountain travels to Lovelock this weekend for the Northern 2A Regional Championships. The Longhorns will face Pershing County on Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the single elimination tournament.
If the Longhorns win, they will face West Wendover on Saturday at 10 a.m.
In the other first-round game on Friday, No. 4 seed Incline will play Silver Stage at 4 p.m. The winner of that game plays Yerington, the regular season champion on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The championship game is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
