The Battle Mountain High School softball team extended its winning streak to 11 games with five more wins this past week — all on the road.
Battle Mountain traveled to Lovelock on Tuesday, April 27, and came back home with a 16-4 victory over its rival.
The Lady Longhorns plated five runs a piece in each of the first two innings and added three more in the third to build a 13-0 advantage.
The Mustangs scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the third inning but that proved to be all the offense for Pershing County.
Battle Mountain tacked on three runs in the fifth inning to win the contest by the 10-run rule.
Reagan Buller, Marena Fuller and Jackie La Riva had two apiece, with La Riva adding three RBI and three runs scored.
Buller and Adriana Robles also scored three runs, with Robles collecting a base hit. Christina Holley and Heidy Amezcua had one hit apiece and Jessa Spring scored four runs.
Shea Jones threw a complete game to earn the win in the circle. She allowed four runs (two earned) on two hits. She struck out nine and walked three.
Lady Longhorns sweep Wolverines
Battle Mountain and West Wendover got together for the second time in two weeks on Friday, this time on the Nevada/Utah border. The Lady Longhorns rallied in the final three innings to win the opening game 14-4.
West Wendover led 4-3 after three innings of play, when Battle Mountain took the lead for good in the fourth inning with five runs.
The Lady Longhorns added two runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to pick the run-rule victory.
Fuller had three of Battle Mountain’s seven hits to go with five RBI. Buller had a hit, scored four runs and drove in three runs. Lilliana Haney, Brooklyn Buller and La Riva each had a hit.
Spring and Jones split time in the circle, combining to strike out 10 batters and walking just one.
Battle Mountain never trailed in the nightcap, scoring seven runs in the second inning to build a 10-2 advantage in the 15-3 victory in five innings.
Spring led the way with three hits and two RBI, while Reagan Buller had two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Bailey Elderkin and La Riva added two hits and three runs scored.
La Riva picked up the win in the complete-game outing. The senior allowed three runs (one earned) on one hit. She struck out four and walked one.
BMHS sweeps
Carlin
Battle Mountain stepped out of league play on Saturday and traveled to Carlin and swept the Railroaders 17-4 and 20-5.
In the first game of the doubleheader, The Lady Longhorns led 9-1 after six innings, before scoring eight runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Ashlynn Newkirk, Fuller and Adriana Robles each had three hits. Robles and Newkirk added five and three RBI, respectively.
Noliena Castellanos picked up two hits and Amezcua scored three runs.
La Riva earned the win in the complete-game performance, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits. She struck out six and walked none.
Battle Mountain hosted Pershing County on Tuesday and results were not available at press time.
The Lady Longhorns are back home Saturday for an 11 a.m. doubleheader with Silver Stage.
