Lady Longhorns knock off Wells in three sets in non-conference action

The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team collected a non-conference victory last Thursday, with a three set sweep of Wells.

The Lady Longhorns narrowly won set one 25-22 and kept the momentum in the final two sets 25-19 and 25-13.

Battle Mountain had to come from behind, as Wells scored six of the first seven points of the set.

Battle Mountain rallied to tie the set at 6-6 and took a 11-9 advantage.

The Lady Longhorns led 15-12 at one time, when the teams traded points, until Battle Mountain led 22-19. 

The Leopards came back to lead the set at 23-22, when the Lady Longhorns scored the final three points. An ace by Aleya Ramos ended the set.

Battle Mountain broke a 4-4 tie in the second set with four straight points to lead 8-4.

The back-and-forth set continued with the Lady Longhorns leading at 17-15. Battle Mountain would go on to score the final three points to win the set.

Wells led 6-2 in the third set but saw that lead go away, as Battle Mountain tied the set at 13-13. The Lady Longhorns scored the final 12 points of the set.

Battle Mountain travels to West Wendover on Friday and Eureka on Saturday.
