 Battle Mountain

Shortly before the match, AD Mike Brooks posted guidelines that allowed up to 50 student fans to sit in the stadium bleachers.

First, the football team wrapped up their practice. Then, they packed the stands of Yanni Field for the first time in over a year.

It made a difference. At the half, the score tied up at 1, but the extra support nudged the Lady Mustangs to a 4-2 win.

Kylee Fuller (12) scored three goals, a hat trick. Rylee Renfroe (3) added one more. Assists came from Connie Kersnowski (4), Anna Jimenez (5) and Brenda Zaldivar (10).

Sophomore goalkeeper Jillian Bridges (#16) made four saves.

In a team effort, Pershing continued their winning streak against West Wendover.

Pershing County has only two seniors, and both scored against the Wolverines.

Yasmin Zaldivar (20) lit up the scoreboard twice. Kersnowski added another goal.

Jimenez, Gonzalez and Renfroe did the rest on assists from Fuller, Jimenez and Trowbridge (25). Goalie Bridges continued to improve according to her coaches, Matt Fuller and asst. coach Eva Matuszyk.

Pershing Country falls to Whittell

On Saturday morning, the Mustangs lost 8-0 against the visiting Whittell Warriors.

“However, Coach Fuller and I can’t complain for a second because the girls were aggressive and did not stop. I lost count of how many goals Jillian (Bridges) saved,” said Matuszyk. “Whittell put her to the test. She showed growth from her first game a few weeks ago. That can be said for all the girls.”

Pershing County hosts Yerington

on Saturday

The last time the Yerington and Pershing County  tangled, Pershing County  walked off with a 5-4 win.

On Saturday at 10 a.m., the Lions come to Mustang territory determined to topple their hosts. It would be Yerington’s first win of the season.

Each team has had time to strategize, so it should be another close game. Lovelock’s performance always blossoms with fan support.

According to the latest protocols, up to 250 spectators may attend.

Expect a warm greeting from Jim Rowe and Principal Jonathan Reynolds. The team hopes their fellow-student athletes pack the stadium bleachers again.
