The Battle Mountain High School boys soccer team netted a split of two homecoming matches this past weekend.

On Friday afternoon, Battle Mountain overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat White Pine 4-1. In the first meeting this year, the two teams tied.

The Longhorns were back on their home field on Saturday and lost 8-0 to Sage Ridge to drop to 1-2-1 on the year.

Battle Mountain tied the match in the 47th minute, when Julio Vazquez scored from the left side of the field and the ball found the bottom corner of the net.

Three minutes later, Spencer Thompson make his way through the White Pine defense and connected from about 10 yards out.

Battle Mountain put the game out of reach in the 61st minute on a goal by Jonathan Narramore and the Longhorns closed out the scoring om the 66th minute off a shot by Marcos Jimenez.

Battle Mountain travels to Ely on Saturday to face White Pine at 4 p.m. The Longhorns make the trip to West Wendover on Friday, April 2.
