Lowry boys soccer team splits with Dayton, Elko in 2-0 decisions

It was an unexpected two-match road trip for the Lowry High School boys soccer team last week.

The Buckaroos were scheduled to host Dayton on Friday, but the administration at the Lyon County school asked the Buckaroos if they could bring both the girls and the boys teams from Winnemucca on the day.

Lowry said yes to the request and the Buckaroo boys had no ill-effects from the road trip, winning 2-0.

The Buckaroos scored single goals in each of the 40-minute halves. Christian Cuevas and Andrew Bravo each had a goal.

After going to the western side of Nevada on Friday, Lowry boarded the bus the next morning for Elko and eastern Nevada.

The second trip was not as good as the first, as the Indians won on their home field 2-0.

Elko scored single goals in each half, as Lowry now sits at 2-2 on the season in the Eastern 3A.

After playing three of its first four matches on the road, Lowry closes out the year with four homes matches.

The Buckaroos host Churchill County on Friday and Spring Creek on Saturday.
