On Monday, March 8, 2021, James (Jim) Ray Cannon, of Bunkerville, Nevada, passed away at the age of 53 in St. George, Utah with his family by his side.
He was born on October 24, 1967 to James and Lydia (Aragon) Cannon in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Jim spent his childhood going on adventures with friends and siblings around the neighborhood and beyond.
He graduated from Albert M. Lowry High School in Winnemucca, Nevada.
While there he was a Nevada State Champion in wrestling. He continued his education at Dixie College in St. George, Utah.
Jim served in the United States Air Force from 1988 – 1992 during Operation Desert Shield.
In 1998 he wed Shaquel Andrus in St. George, Utah.
They settled in Bunkerville, Nevada. Jim truly enjoyed time with his family and worked hard to provide a great life for his wife and children.
He worked as an electrical foreman. He loved his job and the people he worked with.
He was known to call friends and family during his work commute always wanting to know how everyone was doing and what the latest news was.
He was also known to help everyone. He was always helping friends, and neighbors young and old.
It was not unusual to see neighborhood children coming by his house for help to fix a bike or a flat tire.
He would drop whatever he was doing to help them. Jim was an amazing mechanic and electrician. Skills he learned from his father Jim.
He enjoyed building and working, side by side with his children on VW’s, dune buggies, motorbikes and basically anything that had a motor or engine.
He loved teaching them how to rebuild a car, as well as change a tire.
He was an excellent example of a hard worker and instilled this work ethic in his children. Jim was a supportive father to his children.
He attended many sporting, racing and dance events. He completed many motorcycle and camping trips with friends and family.
Jim loved the out of doors and was an avid hunter and hunting guide. Jim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He served in several callings including, Sunday school president, Sunday school presidency member, Sunday school teacher, and a home teacher.
He will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humor, his smile, and his adventurous and kind spirit.
Jim is survived by his wife Shaquel, children; Cody (Shantel) Cannon, Kolina Cannon, Jimmy Cannon and Briana Bennett, Kylie, Rudy, Savannah, Asia, his father James (Janice) Cannon, brother Gary (Annie) Cannon, sisters Nancy (William) Swindle, Paula (Troy) Walker, Jennifer (Garrett) Noles, Stephanie (Jeremiah) Lee, and four grandchildren; Zayger and Wrevin Cannon, and Kiara and Adalynn Klunker. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia and his brother, Andy.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 in Mesquite, Nevada. Interment was at the Bunkerville Cemetery in Bunkerville, Nevada
