While most high school football teams have waited 15 months or so to get back on the field, the McDermitt High School football team has been looking forward to play for some 30 months.
The Bulldogs were back on the field this past Friday afternoon for a scrimmage in Eureka.
McDermitt last played in 2018 and didn’t field a team in 2019 due to a lack of numbers in the program.
The 2020 fall season was pushed back, as the NIAA moved the games to March and April because of restrictions.
High school football did not get the okay to play until mid-February, when Nevada governor Steve Sisolak eased the restrictions on full-contact sports.
McDermitt took eight players to Eureka for the controlled scrimmage against the Vandals.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Carlin on Saturday at 1 p.m. Owyhee beat Carlin 42-18 this past Friday night.
McDermitt travels to wells on March 19 and host Owyhee on March 26.
