Mark Thomas Schmidt of Winnemucca, Nevada, died tragically of a drug overdose June 14th, 2021.
Mark was born on June 1, 1998 in Reno, Nevada to William and Kelly (Scott) Schmidt.
He grew up in Winnemucca and graduated from Lowry High school in 2016.
He worked at Source Too and Reliable Hardware Store.
He was proud to have these jobs because of his passion to fix things. He had much pride in his mechanical abilities.
From a young age he was always working on something. Mark loved working on motors and going fast. Mark raced mini mod #76 at Winnemucca Regional Raceway for 3 years and won many races.
Mark was a hard working, kind, loving and compassionate young man. His smile would brighten everyone’s day.
Please say his name. When you say his name you are not reminding us that he died, you are reminding us that he lived. And that is a great, great gift.
Mark is survived by his grandparents, William and LaVonna Burge, his parents, Mike and Kelly Scott & William and Lisa Schmidt, his brothers Will, Joe, Jake, and Brad Schmidt, sisters Natalie Schmidt, Amanda and Ashlee Scott, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on June 28th at 9:30 with a funeral mass. Internment will be at the Winnemucca Cemetery. A gathering at the Boys and Girls Club will follow at 11:30.
