Lowry high school hires new girls basketball coach and girls soccer coach

Lowry High School has filled two opening in its girls sports programs. 

Jesse Zamudio will take over as the Lowry varsity girls basketball coach.

He replaces Melanie Thurmond, who is going back to Michigan to teach.

Zamudio, a Lowry High School graduate, recently coached the Spring Creek varsity boys basketball team from 2018-20. 

He was the Spring Creek JV boys basketball coach from 2013-18 and also coached with the football program at Spring Creek.

He began his coaching career at Galena High School in 2008.

Cristina Cuevas takes over as the new Lowry girls soccer coach.

Cuevas, a Winnemucca native, has been working with the Humboldt County School District since 2017.

Cuevas was recently an assistant coach for the Lowry varsity boys soccer team.

Cuevas replaces Misty Stene.
