Floppy sun hats, beach umbrellas and color-coded tee-shirts add up to one thing – Lovelock Elementary School track and field day. It went off without a hitch on Wednesday, June 2.
The bleachers filled up with purple, blue, orange, green and yellow-shirted children.
They watched their classmates compete and waited for their turn.
A few of the events included dress and dash, obstacle courses, and javelin and softball throw.
As the temperature climbed, announcer Shauna Bake reminded everyone to stay hydrated and make liberal use of sunscreen.
“We’re not used to this heat yet,” she said. The next day school let out for a long, hot summer.
