McDermitt woman arrested for murder

On March 18, 2021 the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious death on Lambert Drive. The following investigation revealed the victim, who was the homeowner, had been killed as a result of a gunshot wound to his head. 

The investigation that ensued identified Chandra Catches, a 25 year old McDermitt resident as the suspect in the homicide. Catches was located and arrested that day on charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, of which both charges stemmed from this investigation and the theft of the victim’s vehicle from his residence.

With the assistance of the Washoe County Crime Lab Forensic Investigation Service, the crime scene at the residence was processed by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. 

Evidence and information recovered from this investigation identified Catches as the primary suspect. Following review of the case by the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office and forensic processing of evidence recovered from the crime scene, the HCDA filed charges against Catches of NRS 200.010, Murder.

Catches has remained in custody since the time of her initial arrest, and was additionally booked on charges of NRS 200.010, Murder. 

Catches is currently being held in the Humboldt County Detention Center without bail.
